Three Suspected Cattle Rustlers Lynched

Three suspected cattle rustlers have been lynched by a mob at Aduman near Kodie in the Afigya-Kwabre District.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Edward Oduro-Kwarteng, the Offinso Divisional Commander, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the deceased were yet to be identified.

They had attempted escaping with the animals, when the angry residents set upon them – beating them to death.

One of the rustlers, reportedly, managed to slip through and is the run.

He said police officers arrived at the place only to find lifeless bodies with deep cutlass wounds.

ACP Oduro-Kwarteng said no arrest had been made and that a total of 16 cattle were found and being kept by the police.

He warned the people against taking the law into their own hands and said anybody believed to have committed a crime should be handed over to the police for prosecution.

He indicated that those found through investigations to have acted in breach of the law would be arrested and brought to justice.

Lawless and impunity would not be encouraged, he added.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary for autopsy.
