Prez Mahama To Construct Five New Stadia

President John Dramani Mahama has promised to construct five new Sports Stadia in five regions if given the nod in the upcoming December 7 polls.

President Mahama made this known when he highlighted his party’s manifesto at the Banquet Hall in Accra on Tuesday.

“We will build new sports stadia. The remaining regions which do not have sports stadia – the Upper West, Upper East, Volta, Eastern and Brong Ahafo regions will each receive one.”

The NDC government recently completed the Cape Coast stadium in the Central region. The completion of the Cape Coast stadium brings to five the total number of stadia in the country. Greater Accra, Northern, Ashanti and the Western regions already have a Sports stadia.

President Mahama also stated that Azumah Nelson Sports Complex will be upgraded if the party gets the nod.

“We will refurbish the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex to serve as a sports and recreational centre for young people.”

The President also promised to ensure that one of the community Day Senior High Schools will be selected and developed into a Centre of Excellence in Sports.

“It will be a Secondary School but all the young people who show excellence in sports will be brought to that secondary school and so there will be 10 of them.

“They will compete in athletics and all the sports against each other and we will draw the young talents from there to feed the national teams.”
