Two Jailed For Breaking Into Church To Steal

Three men, who broke into the Kyekyewere Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Afigya-Kwabre District to steal items, costing GHȼ3,500.00, have been ordered by theOffinso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Samuel OwarteyAnsah, to serve 12 months imprisonment, each.

KwabenaBoakye, Kwame Acheampong and James Owusu were convicted based on their own plea of guilt.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Edward Oduro-Kwarteng, the OffinsoDivisional Commander, said the crime was committed on August 15 at about 2300 hours.

The convicts broke into the churchand escaped with a generator, amplifier, two digital microphone control, DVD deck, microphones and other items.

The theft was detected the next morning and a formal report was made to the police.

ACP Oduro-Kwarteng said the convicts managed to sell the generator and some of the other items.

A box containing a digital wireless microphone control, cables and chargeable batteries with inscription “SDA Church Kyekyewere” on it was, however,kept in the room of Boakye.

He said on September 03, Mr. John Yeboah, an uncle of Boakye chanced upon the box and asked his nephew how he came by it.

He confessed to the crime and mentioned hisother accomplices and they were arrested and handed over to the police.

ACP Oduro-Kwarteng applauded Mr. Yeboah, for the bold decision to arrest and hand over his relative, who had broken the law to face justice.
