It's Wickedness To Peg Nomination Forms At GHC 10k & GHC 50k - Kabila Chides EC

James Kwabena Bomfeh has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) to reduce the amount of money for picking nomination forms for the Presidency and Parliamentary seats in the country.

According to Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called Kabila, the monetary condition is outrageous and alarming.

He noted on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' that the EC's collections of 10,000 and 50,000 cedis for the Parliamentary and Presidential nomination forms respectively is a major disincentive to people who want to pick the forms.

He believed several Presidential and Parliamentary hopefuls will be discouraged from picking forms to contest in their respective positions due to the exorbitant payment order.

Kabila therefore labeled the EC as being "wicked" towards intelligent and nationalistic Parliamentary and Presidential hopefuls, stressing that the 1992 constitution doesn't permit the EC to behave in such manner.

“It is sheer wickedness to discourage people with the intelligence and genuine desire and nationalistic spirit to serve their country but do not have such financial strength. Meanwhile, the qualification for vying for a Parliamentary position in our national constitution doesn’t depend on a person’s financial strength. We plead with Madam Charlotte Osei and her cohort to grant us listening ears,” he said.
