Newly promoted Aduana Stars have suffered their first 'shock' in the elite Premier League division following the contest of the registration of two of their players. The registration of William Adu, Richard Addae and Addo Boakye by the new entrants are being challenged by Bechem United, Ashantigold and Neoplan Stars respectively. The basis for the registration of the players is being challenged on the basis of an article in the Ghana Football Association (GFA) regulations that gives Clubs the authority to contest the registration of a particular player. The period for the exercise is termed 'verification' which usually precedes the registration and publication processes, after which all players will be deemed to have been duly registered. A statement from the GFA secretariat copied to GNA Sports states that Adu's registration has been declared invalid whilst Addae's is said to have failed to revert to his mother club (Ashantigold) after a loan spell whiulst Boakye's registration is that his transfer agreement has not been fulfilled by Aduana Stars. Other players whose registration are being challenged are Paul Asante and Stephen Owusu Ansah, both from the camp of Kessben FC. Asante's protest is by Ashanti Gold Stars who insist his registration is improper since they have no knowledge about his registration while Ashantigold are challenging the former Black Starlets defender, Owusu Ansah on the excuse that his training compensation has not been fulfilled even though he was granted floating status. Ashantigold are also protesting the registration of former left-back Alfred Arthur by Bechem Chelsea because his contract has not expired and the fact that his existing contract with the Miners is still an issue pending before FIFA. Also in the list is player Akwesi Peprah, whose registration by Berekum Arsenal is being challenged by Ashanti Gold Stars FC on the fringes that his registration is improper since they not know anything about it. Relegated Tema Youth are also contesting the registration of goalkeeper Isaac Akrong by Ashantigold on the basis that they never transferred him to Gamba All Blacks before his onward transfer to Ashgold. Sekondi Eleven Wise have also challenged Edmund Kwabena Sekyi's registration by Premier returnees Accra Great Olympics noting that the 'Dade Boys' never requested for his official release to facilitate his release. Meanwhile, the 2009/2010 Glo Premier League will kick off on Sunday, October 18 at the approved centres as planned.
