Wa Town Roads Asphalting Begins This Week

Asphalting of the Wa Town roads is expected to begin by the close of this week following the completion of the concrete processing plant in the area.

Officials of the China Global Development & Construction Company Limited, CGDCC and Town & Concrete Properties, TCP have assured residents of speedy execution of the project following the availability of adequate raw materials.

Site Engineer, Prosper Anornu who briefed Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah when he made a whistle stop at the plant site on Saturday during his tour of the Upper West region said all necessary measures have been put in place to reduce the likely inconvenience motorists and commuters may face.

Mr. Anornu said besides the 10-kilometer project, other major town roads will also benefit. These include Jirapa, Nadowli, Lawra and Tumu.

The Chief of Staff was accompanied by Majority Leader and MP for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Bagbin, Member of Parliament for Wa West, Joseph Yileh Chireh, Upper West regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani and other NDC party executives.

The regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani pledged his readiness to provide the necessary support for the speedy execution of the project.

MP for Naowli-Kaleo, Alban Bagbin also appealed to residents to cooperate with the engineers to enable them fast track the project.

“This is another testimony of a working President. John Mahama is committed to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is put in place particularly our roads. When we toured the region before the 2012 elections, it was obvious this is the main challenge and President Mahama is fixing them. With a whole plant established here, we are sure after this several other bad roads will be captured. My people are excited. The Chiefs are happy and I am sure they will vote massively for President John Mahama to continue the good work. ”

In a brief remark, Mr Julius Debrah said the President means business when he says he is transforming Ghana.
“This is what we call equitable distribution of national resources. When President Mahama says I am transforming Ghana, he means sit. He is not only asphalting roads in Accra but is changing the phase of major towns and cities” the elated Chief of Staff explained.

His campaign tour involved community meetings during which he explained the NDC 2016 manifesto and showed video documentaries of several government initiatives.

In his interaction with chiefs and traditional leaders, the Chief of Staff also urged them to join the call for a peaceful and issue based campaign to reduce the tension in the country.
