Akwasi Addai Odike of the United People's Party (UPP) is optimistic of becoming the next President of Ghana.

According to him, though his party members are challenging his eligibility to lead them in court, he is confident of coming out victorious.

The Electoral Commission Monday announced the disqualification of 12 presidential aspirants hoping to participate in the forthcoming election. In the case of Mr Addai however, the EC deferred the statement on his status due to intra-party wrangling over his candidature with a case pending before court.

He was given up to Friday, October 14, to resolve the problem and get back to the Commission for consideration.

The party claims to have dismissed him over allegations of corruption, but he challenged the action in court, though he later discontinued the case.

Mr Odike speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday indicated that though he was surprised at the development, he is ready to settle the matter with his executives.

“I was surprised when I heard the EC saying that I am being challenged in court but since I respect the EC, I am ready to meet with my executives to settle the case and make sure I meet the deadline by the EC and I know I will come out victorious because I'm bent on being the next President of Ghana” he asserted.
