Suspended NPP Officers Vow To Vote Against Partys Candidate

A group of suspended polling station officers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akropong constituency have vowed to vote against the party’s parliamentary candidate, Ms. Nana Yaa Dokua.

They said they were going to give their votes to an independent candidate, on December 07.

Mr. Ammishaddai Ansah, their spokesperson, told a news conference at Akuapem-Akropomg that the 14 officers and their supporters numbering about 50, would, however, be voting for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.

He accused Ms. Nana Dokua of masterminding their suspension.

They also found it disgusting, what he claimed was the candidate’s neglect of the party’s structures in the running of the political election.

Ms. Nana Dokua robustly discounts the accusation and insists that, she “had no hand in their suspension”.

She told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the decision to sanction those polling station executive members was taken by the party, consistent with its constitution.

She said it was also not true that she had sidelined the party and doing things her own way.

The Akropong NPP suspended the affected officers on October 01, at its meeting held in Mamfi, for campaigning for an independent candidate, contesting the area’s seat.
