Bill Asamoah Happy Film Bill Now An Act

The President of the Actors Guild in the Ashanti Region, Bill Asamoah, has expressed excitement over the passage of the Film Bill into an Act.

In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE in Accra on Wednesday, the Kumawood producer cum actor said “we have been yearning for this for far too long and now it is here. We were doing what we could because we had low budgeted movies, but that didn’t mean we didn’t have good stories.

“We have good scripts that are still on the shelves because the cost involved is too much. With the film development fund, industry players can actually source  funds to produce world class movies which will project Ghana’s rich culture on the world market,” he said.

The Kumawood actor further expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Tourism Minister for coming up with the Film Bill, which will help industry players to work as professionals and make a mark on the world market.

The new Act will provide the legal framework for the production, regulation, nurturing and development of the local film industry. It will also regulate the distribution, exhibition and marketing of films and other related matters.
