Im Overwhelmed By Volta Region Reception Akufo-Addo

The New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has been overwhelmed by the warm reception of residents of the Volta Region.

Akufo Addo has spent five days in the region canvassing votes ahead of this year’s general elections in December 7.

Addressing the Volta Regional House of Chief at the end of his campaign tour today [October 28] said he is certain the NPP’ electoral fortunes in the region will improve in the December polls.

“Sometimes on this trip, my breath has been taken away by the exuberance and enthusiasm of the crowd. Something tells me that I can dare to hope that this year, the message of the NPP is making inroads in the Volta Region as well as the rest of the country,” he said.

Akufo Addo added that, “I have always known and insisted that the NPP message unleashing the energies of the people especially with the policies of enterprise and innovation to bring a successful and prosperous economy is apt.”

He told the Chiefs that he was seeking the mandate of Ghanaians to make him President so he can improve the lives of the people.

He stressed that every social development or project embarked upon by any government must lead to an improvement in the lives of the people.

“The people have the right to measure the success or failure of your government’s performance by the improvement or otherwise of your performance in their lives. We need to build bridges, roads, schools, hospitals, airports…but they are only of use if they lead to the improvement in the quality of their lives. Infrastructure development must be aimed at improving the quality of lives of the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo has asked the people of the Volta Region to consider voting for the NPP in this year’s general elections rather than the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) because it is the only party that can develop Ghana.

According to him, the NPP remains the country’s best bet in terms of a government that will ensure development.

He told residents of Asikuma that although the NPP’s fortunes in the Volta Region is weak, Mahama’s poor leadership calls for a new government.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is poised to win at least thirty percent of votes for their presidential candidate and capture three parliamentary seats in the Volta region.

According to the party, it is working hard to achieve the target although it ambitious.

The Regional Chairman of the Party, John Peter Amewu in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show said, “as a party, we have a very good agenda for the region. We are aiming at 3 [parliamentary] seats and a minimum of 30 per cent popular presidential votes and that is what we are calling agenda 3-30. It is doable and we are working towards that.”
