Trust No Politician In The Upcoming General Elections Macho Men Told

The President of Amass Ghana, Mr. Kofi Asamoah-Ababio has charged macho men not to trust politician in the impending general elections.

He said politicians have over the years taken advantage of their (macho men) ignorance to perpetuate violence and other wicked deeds and, was hopeful that, they will wake up to understand that, their would-be employers will always replace them, once they are incapable.

Speaking at the Amass Ghana Peace and Security workshop which was organized for bodybuilders drawn from within Ashanti region, the president stressed that bodybuilders are there to protect national peace and not to disturb national peace, therefore macho men should resist any political attempt that will influence them to be brute.

He said elections in Ghana over the years have been the wheels on which the journey of our individual lives travel, adding that a clear demonstration is how democratic governance have proven to be the most suitable system for this country in this fourth republic, therefore elections should be democratic driven and not violence driven.

He bemoaned the increasing rate at which macho men are being used for wrong reasons in Ghana. According to him, it is either they are protecting political parties or protecting imagery, it is either they are commissioned to snatch ballot boxes or commissioned to stage mayhem etc. whiles in the advance world they are used for sporting activities and other handsome jobs.

Speaking on the theme Electoral Justice: Key to peace and national security, he said the electoral commission of Ghana has become a symbol of emulation in Africa because of the good job they have chalked over the years. In spite of the numerous challenges that it has faced from 1992 to date, the Electoral Commission remains strong and focused in organizing electoral activities, he added.

“As a human institution, Ghanaians must know and understand that Madam Charlotte Osei can make mistakes that are humanly genuine. She is highly prone to attempts of bribery and corruption in this electioneering season but in all these possible challenges, I believe she would surmount and put Ghana first in her decision making and therefore create equal platform for all political parties.”

He stressed that Equal platform is created for free, transparent and fair election when all polling stations are made known to all political parties, all the rules governing the elections are applied in all polling stations, electoral materials are adequately supplied to their respective centers on time, EC personnel are well trained to man the polling stations and, adequate and impartial security is provided to all election centers.

The workshop saw the Chief of Sabin-Akrofrom, Nana Osei Kofi, Benkumhene of Wamfie, Nana Owusu Ababio, Kontihene of Kodie and Faisal Alhasan of Ghana’s Strongest and some top-notch people in the society gracing the event.
