Ive Fulfilled My Promises Prez Mahama

President John Mahama has told the people of New Abirem in the Eastern Region that he has fulfilled the promises he made to them during the 2012 elections, therefore, he should be retained for another four-year term.

Speaking at an encounter with the chiefs and people of the area as part of his campaign tour, he said: “Today is a special day for me. We have commissioned a new market in New Abirem. In 1997, the chief of New Abirem appealed to President Jerry John Rawlings, the then president that they needed a market in New Abirem to provide jobs for their women and boost economic activities.”

“Accordingly President Rawlings ensured that the construction of the market was started in 1999 but unfortunately when the NDC left power in 2000, the project was stalled. For eight good years, the project was not attended to but when the NDC took over (in 2008), we have ensured the completion of the project and so we have commissioned the new market.”

He added that: “In 2012, I travelled along the Nkawkaw highway through to Oda and saw the deplorable nature of the road and, so, I promised that when we won the 2012 elections we were going to re-construct the road. True to our words, since we won the elections, we started the project and will be completing soon. Ofoasi-Ayieribi-Oda road is being constructed. And so gradually we are developing the area. We do know that there are some feeder roads that have not been attended to. In the meantime, we are focusing on the main ones and then shift attention to the others later. As soon as the contractors working on the major roads are done, they will quickly shift to the feeder roads.”

“And so if we have not started with those projects, it doesn’t mean they have been neglected, very soon contractors will start those projects.”
