Nana Addo Is Compassionate . . . He Won't Destool Chiefs - Mike Oquaye Jnr

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mike Oquaye Jnr. has dismissed claims that the party's Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will destool Chiefs who criticize him.

Addressing a gathering at Suhum in the Eastern Region, President John Mahama said Ghanaians will do themselves a great disservice if they vote for "an intolerant leader" like Nana Addo, "who is not ready to accept any contrary views".

“Nananom, if he (Akufo-Addo) becomes President and you criticize him, he will destool you," he insisted.

Commenting on the President's claims, Mike Oquaye Jnr. said on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that the NPP has a track record to be tolerant and not divisive as purported by the President.

He told Nananom to reminisce on the previous NPP administration, stressing that the President peddled lies about the personality of Nana Addo.

“It’s not true today and it won’t be true tomorrow because we’re all aware of the NPP when it came into government. When we came into government, we didn’t dethrone any Chief.”

According to him, Nana Addo rather “has compassion. He gives listening ear to issues. He is someone who leaves the party to do its work…He has no say (Nana Akufo Addo) when they are going to take a disciplinary action; he has no say as to who should be disciplined and who should not be.”
