Adansi Asokwa Wont Fall To NDC!

The political temperature measured within the Adansi Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region indicates that the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for the area Kobina Tahir Hammond would retain his seat although the ruling National Democratic Congress has placed premium on unseating the no-nonsense Legislator.

The NDC recently pitched camp in the Constituency with its General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia leading the charge in a concerted effort to claim the seat but when The New Crusading GUIDE visited the area to randomly talk to voters it was clear that Lawyer K.T Hammond was not a spent force yet and that he was going to carry the day on December 7.

It became evident that the propaganda spearheaded by Mr. Asiedu Nketiah that Mr K. T Hammond could be prosecuted only when he was no more a Member of Parliament fell flat as the voters were alive to the ongoing prosecution of Abuga Pele who is a sitting NDC Member of Parliament. Mr. Pele is standing trial over the role he played in the infamous GYEEDA scandal.

“We do not know why the Ashanti Regional Executives of the NPP are apprehensive. They should visit this constituency and judge for themselves how popular Lawyer is. They should not for fall NDC propaganda,” stated a voter at Tawiakrom, a community within the Constituency.

“This constituency is not about to fall to the NDC” he reiterated.

It came as a surprise as many people within Asirifkrom, Kwnatenso and Tawiakrom who hitherto were not voting for the NPP Legislator, said they were going to vote him come December 7.

“Oh yes, it is true we do not vote for him but this time around, we are going to change our voting pattern”, some of the residents told this paper.

“Look, this man has singlehandedly nurtured and developed this constituency for the past years. Indeed almost every single projects and developments here were undertaken by him. From roads to bridges, to schools to electricity, all by him”, another person at Asokwa said.

“His developmental mentality transcends this Constituency. That is why he was installed as the Adansi Nkosuohene (Development Chief) by the Omanhene of the Adansi Traditional Area”, another person also told this paper.

On whether the decision by Richard Oduro Anokye to contest as an Independent candidate after the NPP disqualified him from contesting, most of the people said they did not know him.

The NDC parliamentary candidate of Adansi Asokwa constituency, Lawyer Evans Amankwa seem to have lost steam as there are many allegations flying against him in the Constituency although he is said to have denied them.

One of the allegations which he denies is that he once slept with both a mother and her daughter which resulted to the later being impregnated.

Again, there is an allegation that in 2004 when he contested as a Parliamentary candidate for NDC and lost to the incumbent KT Hammond, his supporters destroyed a toilet facility he built for his own hometown, Adansi Anwhiaso.

Again in 2012, there were allegations he has collected money from some 900 people in his constituency promising to purchase for them ECG meters which never came and later affected his chances to win the Adansi Asokwa seat.

When The New Crusading GUIDE contacted the Lawyer K.T Hammond, he brushed off the speculation that he may lose his seat and merely stated that “if wishes were horses, beggers would ride”
