Ghanaians Reduced To Beggars

Samira Bawumia, wife of vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized the current Mahama administration for imposing untold hardship on Ghanaians who currently beg for arms.

She said that a chunk of the nation’s resources are being controlled by a few individuals in government while the majority of Ghanaians continue to suffer.

According to her, owing to the situation, many Ghanaians struggle to make ends meet.

Mrs Bawumia urged Ghanaians to vote out Mahama-led NDC and bring back the NPP to improve their living conditions.

“Everybody has become a beggar in Ghana under the leadership of John Mahama. When your children are going to school you have to go and beg for money for them. When your child is sick you have to go and beg for money before you can send him or her to the hospital. Why? Are we going forward or backward?” she quizzed.

Hajia Bawumia made the disclosure while speaking to members of the Muslim community and some traders at the Community 1, Tema.

She wondered why the NDC is asking for another four-year term.

Mrs Bawumia said retaining the NDC government in power would further push Ghanaians down the abyss of poverty with dire consequences.

“The NDC have been in government for eight years and they couldn’t perform to the satisfaction of Ghanaians, but they are again asking for another term in office. If they couldn’t deliver on their promises to Ghanaians in eight years, would they be able to deliver on those promises in four years?” she asked.

According to her, social intervention programmes put in place by the previous Kufuor administration to improve the lot of Ghanaians have all collapsed as a result of the mismanagement of the economy.

She noted that under the NDC administration, National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS), which benefited mostly the poor in society, has collapsed, despite the huge resources at the disposal of the Mahama administration. “This year’s elections should be a serious matter for many people who must change NDC so we do not continue to suffer.”

She indicated that Ghana requires a selfless and incorruptible person like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to improve the country’s economy in order to bring relief to the suffering masses.

“Nana Akufo-Addo did not accept allowances meant for ministers and also did not stay in government bungalow for eight years when he served as a minister in Kufuor’s government,” she said.

She reiterated that the next NPP government, led by Nana Akufo–Addo, would introduce policies such as the Zongo Development Fund, one-district -one factory, as well as 1 million dollars seed fund to be allocated to each constituency.

Hajia Bawumia appealed to the Muslim community to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming general elections, saying NPP is the only party that cares about Muslims.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East constituency, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, called on Ghanaians to elect Nana Akufo-Addo as president to lessen their plight.

He described Nana Addo as an incorruptible and visionary leader who would improve the lives of the people.

Mr Titus-Glover appealed to his constituents to renew his mandate to enable him continue the good works he initiated during his first term.
