Fake Pink Sheets Saga: NDC Untroubled - Ofosu-Ampofo

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is unperturbed by the brouhaha surrounding the printing of pink sheets for the December 7 elections, the party’s Director of Election, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo disclosed.

“The NDC do not have any problem with this whole serial number issue,” he said on Wednesday on Starr 103.5FM’s Morning Starr. “Our party representatives are there to monitor the printing and that alone is satisfying.”

According to him, before the printing, the EC organizes orientation for all party agents to educate them on what they should expect.

“So far the processes have been inclusive and participatory and I think the EC has done a good job,” said Ofosu-Ampofo.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) has commenced printing of pink sheets to be used in the 2016 elections without serial numbers. This, according to the Director of elections of the party, could affect the credibility of the elections.

“This is not acceptable,” said Martin Adjei Korsah, stressing that it would affect “the integrity of the base document for the declaration of results.”

The chairperson of the Commission, Charlotte Osei, he said publicly stated that the pink sheets will have serial numbers hence the party is “surprised to be told at the final hour of printing by those contracted to print that they have been instructed by the same Commission not to bother putting serial numbers on the Pink Sheets.”

But in a response, the EC debunked the claim by the NPP, stating, “It [is] very regrettable for a political party to engage in pre-emptive allegations and suspicions with the intention to unnecessarily heighten public tensions ahead of the elections.”
