Mayweather Turns Promoter

Amid rumours of a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather was present this week as a pre-fight press call between Badou Jack and Britain’s James DeGale got under way.

Jack and DeGale are set to face each other in the ring in a hotly anticipated super middleweight title showdown in Brooklyn.

The legendary Mayweather, undertaking his duties as a boxing promoter, was present to oversee proceedings as the two fighters spoke about their upcoming bout in January.

DeGale (23-1-KO14) and Jack (20-1-2-KO12) will meet at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center – a fight which will see the sport return to New York after a five month absence.

But, his promotional duties aside, Mayweather may well have bigger things on his mind, as rumours of a potential multi-million rematch with Manny Pacquiao continue to swirl.
Mayweather and Pacquiao met in May 2015 in what was arguably the most anticipated boxing match-up of all time.

Mayweather emerged victorious on that occasion, taking the win on points decision.

The American superstar was seen back in the boxing ring only once since, defeating Andre Berto in September 2015 before announcing his retirement from the sport.

But boxing fans worldwide have been desperate to see a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao to occur ever since, to settle the score once and for all.

The undefeated champion appears to be in demand as ever, despite on several occasions stating he is happily enjoying the quieter life of retirement.

Just this week the superstar was called out by UFC star Conor McGregor, who has apparently set his terms for a potential fight after saying: ‘Tell Floyd and Showtime, I’m coming – tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules cause he’s afraid of a real fight,’ on stage at a New York nightclub.
