An Accra Magistrate court has remanded a fisherman, Emmanuel Martei Boye, 28, in custody over the death of one Solomon Ablorh Mensah, 25, at Teshie in Accra.
Boye was charged with unlawfully and intentionally causing murder when he appeared before the court presided over by Mr James Kojo Botah.
The case was adjourned to November 22, 2016
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Gregory Yerba told the court that the complainant is the brother of Mensah.
He said both Boye and Mensah were residents of Adoemi, a surburb of Teshie.
According to C/Inspector Yeboah, on October 31, 2016 at about 11:00am, Boye met the younger brother of the deceased Stephen Sowah Ablorh in town and subjected him to severe beatings.
The reason being that Boye bought a stolen flat screen television and Sowah informed the owner about the deal.
C/Inspector Yeboah said Sowah later informed his elder brother, Mensah, about the assault.
Mensah was said to have gone to Boye’s house but did not meet him but while returning Boye met Mensah in the neighbourhood which led to the exchange of words and a fight between them, but they were separated by people at the scene.
The prosecutor said as Mensah was leaving the scene, Boye pulled a knife hidden in his clothes and stabbed Mensah on the right side of his rib and bolted.
Mensah was rushed to the Lekma hospital at Teshie but died shortly after.
On November 1, 2016, Boye was arrested at a village in Nsawam where he was seeking spiritual protection.
