Andre Ayew Misses Out On Top 5 Nominees For Africa Footballer of The Year Award

Ghana attacker Andre Ayew has been excluded from CAF’s five-man shortlist for the 2016 Africa Footballer of the year award.
 
The Black Stars deputy captain was not included despite his tremendous form for Swansea City last season.

Reigning Africa Footballer of the year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Senegalese international Sadio Mane, Algeria duo Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez as well as Mohamed Salah of Egypt made the top five to vie for the award.

The Ghanaian international who finished third last year could not make the CAF Award despite being shortlisted for the BBC Africa Footballer of the year.

The top five according to CAF was decided by votes from the members of the CAF Media Committee, CAF Technical & Development Committee and half of the 20-member Panel of Experts (10 persons).

2. Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Leicester City)
