PHOTOS: PPP Members Join NDC

Three people claiming to be key members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the Ashanti Region have renounced their membership and joined the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), a few days to the general election.

They are Kofi Amoabeng, Ashanti Regional Communication member; Kwabena Amoateng, former Ashanti Regional Organiser and Benedict Awuah, former Atwima-Kwanwoma parliamentary candidate.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, Kofi Amoabeng, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said they had denounced the PPP because it has undefined ideology, aside lacking logistics and funds for the party’s activities.

“We are about 120 people who feel aggrieved and unhappy about mistrust of the party’s organisation, lack of financial support for the party’s activities, the leadership style of the PPP and the party’s ideology,” Mr. Amoabeng affirmed.

According to him, they were among a group of people who defected together with Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom (the party’s flag bearer) from the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and formed the PPP, having complained about the poor leadership and incompetency of the party (CPP).

He alleged that the attitude of the PPP leadership today is not different from what pertained in the CPP then, describing the top echelon as dictatorial and incompetent people incapable of managing a political party.

Mr Amoabeng, who claimed to be former Bantama Constituency secretary before his present position, said they were joining the NDC because it is a true socialist party that is well focused and better organised.
