'Wontumi' is Creating Chaos In Ashanti Region . . . Police Must Be Firm On Him - NDC MP

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chai has asked the Police administration to crack the whip on NPP's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Bosiako.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Hon. Tetteh Chai stated emphatically that Mr. Antwi-Bosiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi, is the cause of all the problems in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, he is an instigator of disorder in the region and has made up his mind to disturb the security agencies as well as the Electoral Commission by fabricating unfounded stories about the activities of the Commission.

Hon. Tetteh Chai was commenting on the 'fake' thumb printed ballot papers that were incepted in the region.

A team of police personnel and some executives of the NPP led by Chairman Wontumi intercepted four bags of alleged thumb printed ballot papers in a hotel at TUC in Kumasi in the region.

But the Regional Police Commander, Kofi Boakye told host Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Monday that "there are no serial numbers and no thumbprint", claiming the papers are fake.

Hon. Tetteh Chai wondered why the NPP Regional Chairman seems to be the bearer of such incidents.

“Let’s call a spade a spade. He is the problem. He is the problem. He’s creating problems for the NPP in the Ashanti Region. He’s creating problems for the security officers in the Ashanti Region. He’s creating problems for the EC in the Ashanti Region.”

“As a seasoned politician manning a whole region should by now know the difference between the ballot papers that the EC prints. And you see, I always say that the political parties, we’re part of the problem. When we elect people into office who are ignorant of the things they’re elected to do, this is what happens. And these are the people who are coming to create chaos in the country . . "

He called on the Police administration to "be very firm on such people. They shouldn’t say he’s a Chairman or Secretary, so he can do anything that he wants to do because the things that he’s doing, he’s inciting violence in the region.”

"Heightening the political tension in these two days won’t help us. Let’s calm down the tensions. We should let the electorates know that we, as political parties, we’ve have done all what it takes to make the elections free and fair. These are the people that we’ve elected into office to lead political parties in this country. And these are the sort of Chairmen who will bring fighting into this country," he further advised.
