Eligible voters across the Northern Region have started casting their votes to select the next President and legislators to represent their interest in Ghana’s Parliament House in the next four years.
Some of the polling stations visited by the GNA, in Tamale, include Under Mango Tree; Kalpohin SHS “A”; and Inter Royals; located in the Tamale North Constituency, and SDA Primary “B”; Old Hospital; and Tishegu Anglican JHS; in the Tamale Central Constituency.
It also visited the Presby JHS Kukuo; A.M.E Zion JHS Kukuo “A”; and A.M.E Zion JHS Kukuo “B”; in the Tamale South Constituency.
At all those polling stations, long queues were formed as early as 0500 hours and actual voting started at about 0710 hours.
No major hitches were recorded when polls opened except for some voters, who could not be verified by the Biometric Verification Device (BVD).
Those were given forms to fill before voting to indicate that they were not verified by the BVD.
Polling agents of some of the political parties were present at the polling stations and security officers were also on guard to ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, most shops within the Tamale Metropolis did not open and the streets are less busy.
