Prison Officer Spotted Drunk & Sleeping At Polling Station

Deputy National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service,(GNFS) has debunked claims that an officer of the Fire Service was sighted at the Gomoa Akyease Methodist B polling station drunk.

There were reports that a Fire Service officer stationed at the Methodist Gomoa Akyease was drunk and sleeping at post.

It's however confirmed that it is rather a Prison Officer who got drunk and slept at the polling station while voting was in progress at the Gomoa Akyease Methodist B.

Addressing the issue in an interview on Peace FM's Live election coverage, the Divisional Officer Prince Billy Anaglate said "for us to get to hear that a Fireman has misconducted himself, he (Chief Officer) took it so seriously and quickly instructed the Regional Commander of Central Region to get to the scene and escort that fireman, after replacing him with somebody else, escort him to Accra. And then he will be investigated. If indeed he has misconducted himself, then further disciplinary actions will be meted out to him.

"But when she got there, the Regional Commander, when she got there; she realized it was rather a Prison officer at a (Methodist Gomoa) Gomoa Akyease Methodist B polling station. Quickly, they used the fireman to replace him and then he has been taken away by other Prison officers."

However, anybody in any of the Regions where any of these Fire personnel could probably misconduct himself or herself should contact the Regional Commander of the region or quickly call this number: 0299340034.
