Yahya Jammeh Will Never Survive If He Refuses To Accept Defeat - Pratt

Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has called for diplomatic sanctions to be meted out to President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Mr. Pratt noted that the option to send troops to Gambia to expel the its leader from office may wreak havoc and eventually harm innocent citizens.

He stated that applying military force or allowing Senegal to intervene in the issue will worsen the situation, leading to violence and other vicious actions that may erupt in the process.

He however held strongly that African leaders should "squeeze" Mr. Jammeh and he will have no alternative but to vacate his seat for the President-elect Adama Barrow to rule the nation.

He urged countries to cut ties and stop trade transactions with the Gambian nation, claiming such actions will leave Yahya Jammeh and his government defunct.

If he says he won’t vacate the seat, he will not survive. He can’t do the work. It is possible that we will put sanctions on his government so that his government cannot transact business with any country. Sanctions will bite.
