President Nana Addo Cant Protect The Public Purse- Kabore

36 persons have been nominated by Ghana’s President to take up various ministerial portfolios pending approval by parliament. President Nana Akufo-Addo is yet to name his deputy and regional ministers and the size of his ministers is expected to swell when he finally makes the announcement.

The number of persons to take up ministerial positions has angered the NDC'S Deputy Eastern Regional Organizer, Hackman Kabore, who claims the NPP’s promise to operate a lean government is a “liar”.

Speaking on ATV’s Kanawu show, the NDC stalwart noted that there is no way President Nana Akufo-Addo could protect the public purse with the number of ministers he intends to work with.

According to Mr. Kabore, all of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s predecessors worked with fewer ministers as compared to him.

“How can the president protect the public purse with the number of ministers he is planning to work it?” he quizzed.

He added that “Ex-president Kufour came with 31 ministers, Rawlings and Atta Mills came with 25, Mahama 24, but now we have 36 sector ministers under Nana Addo”.

He claimed that the increase in the number of ministers is an indication that President Nana Akufo-Addo is looking for an avenue to create job for the “small boys”.

“He has increased our expenditure …ministers work with land cruisers, budget, salaries – just quantify it in monetary terms. He has just created jobs for the boys”, Mr. Kabore said.
