Black Stars To Pocket $5,000 As Winning Bonus - Sports Minister-Designate

Information available to Peacefmonline.com confirms that the Nana Addo government has settled on $5, 000 dollars as winning bonus for the Senior national team, the Black Stars in the ongoing Gabon 2017 AFCON instead of the $10, 000 which was earlier speculated in the media.

According the Minister-Designate for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah, each player of the national team per match will receive $5, 000 dollars; thus each player is taking away $15,000 instead of $30, 000 at the group stage.

However, they are due $15,000 as bonus for qualifying to the quarter-final stage even if they lose to Egypt in their final Group D game.

The $5,000 bonus will also be maintained for their quarter-final game but will be increased to $6,000 if they make the semi-finals.

The Sports Minister-Designate again revealed that as the Black Stars players progress to the next stage of the tournament, they have agreed to a 50 percent slash from the previous bonus which they used to receive from government.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the Black Stars of his unflinching support to the team.

Before the Black Stars team departed for its pre-tournament tour in the UAE, a two-man delegation from government met GFA officials, the technical and playing body of the Black Stars in Accra.

The delegation included Sports Minister designate, Hon. Isaac Asiamah, who is also the minority spokesperson for sports in parliament, and Mustapha Hamid, Minister- designate for information.

On behalf of the playing body, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu thanked the president for his support and pledged the team’s commitment to win the ultimate at the tournament.
