Fulanis Flee Agogo As Opinion Leaders Declare War On Them

More than fifty (50) cattle have been shot dead since Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Agogo in the Ashanti Region, Today can report.

This disturbing development, according to our sources, has compelled Fulani herdsmen to flee Agogo for their dear lives.

The incident, Today understands, follows an alleged directive issued to the residents of the area by opinion leaders to shoot and kill any Fulani in the Asante Akyem North District.

Speaking to Today in an interview some residents of Agogo pointed out that the directive was in fulfilment of their earlier threat to eject all Fulani herdsmen from their lands by every means possible due to their atrocities.

But some residents were of the opinion that killing the cattle of the Fulanis alone was not enough considering the many atrocities they were alleged to have committed.

The ‘shoot to kill’ directive, our sources said, was carried out in communities like Kataban and Onyinaso all suburbs of Asante Akyem District.

“As for the number they have killed, I can’t tell because they are many. Imagine they started on Saturday and it has been going on since then, you can therefore, imagine the number of cattle that have been killed,” the source told Today.

The people of Asante Akyem North have battled the nomads for many years as they have been a real torn in the flesh of the farmers in the area.

For instance, daughters and wives of the indigenes had suffered several atrocities at the hands of the Fulani herdsmen including rape.

It would be recalled that in 2016 a massive demonstration, led by chiefs, youth groups leaders and the then MP for the area, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, led to chaos as the indigenes could no longer tolerate the behaviours of the Fulani herdsmen.
