Boost For Ghana As Injured Captain Asamoah Gyan Set To Join Teams Training

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has returned to the Black Stars camp to undergo treatment following Wednesday's injury at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Tests in the Gabonese capital of Libreville have shown that the injury is not as bad as initially feared.

Tests revealed that the Black Stars skipper suffered 'a left thigh muscle contusion', Black Stars medical officer Adam Baba revealed.

Gyan has now joined the Black Stars camp in Oyem to undergo treatment to make him fully fit.

He suffered the setback during Wednesday's final Group D match against Egypt.

The Al Ahli attacker could be fit for the team’s quarterfinal clash against DR Congo on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was feared could miss the crucial tie after sustaining what looked like a serious injury in the team’s final Group game against Mali.

The news serves as a big relief for Coach Avram Grant ahead of Sunday’s game at the Stade de Oyem.
