Bribery Scandal: Hon. Osei Owusu Threatens Legal Action Against Minority MPs

Boakye Agyarko’s faith as the next Energy Minister currently hangs in the balance.

He is yet to be endorsed by the Appointments Committee following some allegations of perjury against his testimony before the committe.

And to make matters worse, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga made a scathing revelation on Radio Gold that the embattled minister designate, connived with the Chairperson of the Appointments Committee, Mr. Osei Owusu, to bribe Minority MPs who were stalling his nomination.

Mr Ayariga explained that the Minority MPs unanimously rejected an enveloped amount of GHS3000 each, when they found out from Mr. Osei Owusu that the money was coming from Mr. Agyarko.

According to Mr Ayariga, the Minority MPs first accepted the money because they were under the impression that the money was their sitting allowance but got alarmed and decided to return the money after they heard rumours that the money was coming from Mr. Agyarko to bribe them.

As the issue becomes the rage on airwaves, the Chair of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Joe Osei Owusu, has threatened to take legal action against persons trying to malign him by claiming he is part of the scheme to bribe minority MPs who have vetted Boakye Agyarko.

In an interview with Peacefm’s Emmanuel Akorli, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu threw a huge challenge to the Minority MPs to disclose the exact identity of the person who gave them the money as a form of bribe to speed up the nomination of Boakye Agyarko as Minister of State.
