Bribery Allegation: Is Radio Gold An Arm Of Parliament . . . I Can't Think Far - Atik

General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has described the bribery allegation leveled against the Minister for Energy, Boakye Agyarko, as a "weak struggle for relevance" on the Minority side in Parliament.

Atik Mohammed wondered why Mahama Ayariga, Bawku Central MP and a member of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee would hop onto Radio Gold to make such shocking disclosure when there are structures in Parliament to address it.

In his view, the accusers of the Energy Minister may be searching for some advantage; hence there is no basis for the allegations.

I can’t think far. If indeed these claims were genuine, your first point of call shouldn’t be Radio Gold. Why? Does Radio Gold work in Parliament? It is not an organ of Parliament...You hold yourself as an MP but you don’t have faith in the very institution you’re working in.

Atik Mohammed however supported the call for a thorough investigation to be held into the matter but dreaded that the outcome would have a negative effect on the integrity of Parliament or Members of the House.

By the time this issue comes to an end, they would have smeared the name of Parliament. They would have smeared the name of the nominee. They would have smeared some names in leadership . . . I see it as just a weak struggle for relevance,” he stated.
