Nana Addos Govt Is Interested In Cheap Partisan Propaganda- Former CoS

Claims by a government official that over 200 vehicles are missing from the presidential car pool has described as “false” and “baseless” by a former deputy Chief of Staff who served under the erstwhile NDC administration.

Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi, a former deputy Chief Of Staff noted that a total of 641 vehicles were handed over the New Patriotic Party at the presidency before the National Democratic Congress left power.

“…a total of 641 vehicles were listed and properly accounted for. This was duly captured in the handing over notes”, a statement written by Mr. Johhny Osei Kofi read.

However, Presidential spokesman Mr. Eugene Arhin in an interaction with the press shockingly revealed that the new administration is yet to know the whereabouts of all vehicles meant to be used at the Presidency.

This according to him, has forced President Nana Akufo- Addo to use a 10-year-old BMW, since he assumed office on January 7.

In breaking the issue down, the newly appointed Director of Communications at the Presidency stated that officials could only find:

.74 of the presidency's 196 Toyota Land Cruisers
.20 of the 73 Toyota Land Cruiser Prados
.11 of the 24 Mercedes
.2 of the 28 Toyota Avalons
.2 of the six BMWs.

But in another twist to the story, Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi claims that among the vehicles handed over to the NPP team were two bulletproof salon cars and two bulletproof cross country vehicles specifically dedicated to the use of the President.

He discredited Mr. Eugene Arhin’s claim by stating that the past administration also added a fleet of almost new Mercedes Benz vehicles.

Surely if President Akufo Addo can use 10 year old vehicles, he should be able to use vehicles that are relatively new and in good condition”, he said in connection claims that President Nana Addo uses a 10-year-old BMW.

He further noted that sets of bulletproof vehicles which are relatively new and in good condition, were also left behind for the transportation of the President.

As part of the transition process, Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi notes that both the Assets and Logistics Committee on the NPP side were given a detailed list of all vehicles in the pool at the Presidency.

In his view which was expressed in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com he noted that “it is obvious from the foregoing that Eugene Arhin’s intervention is part of a grand scheme by the Akufo Addo/Bawumia government to demonise members of the previous administration for cheap partisan propaganda purposes.”

In a related development, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is reportedly investigating Kofi Adams, National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), over the fleet of vehicles retrieved from his residence last week.

Five vehicles – two Toyota Land Cruiser V8s with registration numbers GS 7451-12 and GN 7796-16 – and three Nissan Hard Body pick-ups with registration numbers GM 842-16, GM 823-16 and GM 846-16, were seized from his Golf City area home in Tema last week Wednesday.

According to reports, some of the vehicles were purchased in the name of the state but the current owner allegedly scrapped [tampered] with the Chassis numbers under the wind shield of the pickups and sealed the place with a metal – all in an attempt to change ownership of the vehicles.

However, they could not scrap the Chassis numbers in the engine.
