Only candid assessment could bring success-Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has said the success of President John Evans Atta Mills's government would depend on candid assessment. "If we turn to put up sycophantic behaviour we are bringing doom to our people," he said at the 42nd Godigbe Festival of the chiefs and people of Aflao. Former President Rawlings said only candid assessment of the government by those close to it that would make it succeed and appealed to Members of Parliament and Ministers of State to make the people's demands and moods known to the government. Mr Fiifi Kwetey, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, conveyed the NDC's gratitude to the people of the area for their overwhelming support to the party and assured that government would make good its promises to them. Mr Albert Ziga, MP for Ketu South said 38.1 million dollars has been secured for the Aflao/Agbozume trunk road. Togbe Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao, conferred the title "Awaklasu" on former President Rawlings and honoured 11 others for their contribution to the development of the area.
