Teachers� Association Elect New Leaders

The Ashanti Regional branch of the Coalition of Concern Teachers (CCT) has elected new leaders to run the affairs of the association. The six-member executive is chaired by Mr. Kingsley Darko with Mr. Richard Asumadu as Vice Chairman.

The rest are Mr. Stephen Donkoh, Secretary, Mr. Michael Koduah, Treasurer, Ms. Vida Asare, Women’s Commissioner, and Mr. Kwame Sarpong, Organizer.They were elected at the Coalition’s delegates conference held at the Amakon Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) basic school in Kumasi and would serve a four-year term.
Addressing the teachers earlier, Mr. King Ali, the National President, reminded them to work with total commitment and passion to improve the quality of education.

They should make effective use of the school contact hours and avoid doing anything unethical, he added.
He called on the government to do more to make sure that the right environment existed for smooth teaching and learning.He also spoke of the need to adequately motive the teacher to give it their all - to enhance classroom performance.

He appealed for the restoration of the tax waiver on cars imported by teachers for their private use.
Mr. Darko pledged to do things transparently, adding that, the new leaders would live up to expectation.
They would focus on building the capacity and upgrading the competence of the members through training workshops and seminars. He thanked the teachers for the honour done them and gave the assurance that they would not disappoint.
