NPP Will Rule Ghana For 30yrs- NPP Chairman Predicts

For the next 30 years, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will rule Ghana. This emphatic statement was made by Mr. Akwasi Nti Asamoah, the Fomena Constituency Chairman of the NPP as he urged members of his party not to use rogue tactics to interfere with the appointment process of the President Akufo-Addo.

According to him, it would be better for the NPP members to respect party structures and limit unnecessary lobbying for unqualified persons that can stir up bickering. In his view, if this simple rule is obeyed, it would afford the president and his appointees the peace of mind to go about their duties and fulfill their promises to Ghanaians.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah also called on NPP MPs not to stampede the work of regional and constituency party executives who know candidates who qualify at the various districts to be chosen as District Chief Executives.

He bemoaned the practice where some MPs were now shifting their resource and energy into the selection of their preferred DCEs without consulting the regional and constituency executives.

Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah observed that avoiding such rancor would enable the NPP to give their best as they serve Ghanaians.

He noted that in the case of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Osei Asibey Antwi is best qualified to take the position and rather than working against his appointment, opposing MPs should be supportive of him.

Competition remains rife as key NPP members continue to lobby for the position of mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) under the new Akufo-Addo led adiminstration.

For the KMA position, names that have come out include the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Osei Asibey Antwi, Mr. Samuel Pyne, Regional NPP Secretary, Mr. Kusi Boakye, a businessman, and Dr. Osei Bobie, a senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Amongst them, Mr. Osei Asibey has been tipped by Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah, who is also the spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen Caucus to be the next KMA mayor.
