Akufo-Addo Should Decree To Use Local Food Stuffs For School Feeding - Nana Ofori Owusu

Operations Director for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu is urging President Akufo-Addo to make the ‘Free SHS policy’ comprehensive by ensuring that Ghanaian food stuffs are used for the free school feeding program.

According to him, the President should decree that local food stuffs should be used for the school feeding as this will motivate Ghanaian farmers to grow more and expand the agric sector.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Nana Ofori Owusu said there should be a guarantee market for the farmers to enhance the development and the economy of the country.

“The President should give a decree that Ghana goods should be used for the free feeding program. Let’s support Ghanaian farmers by creating a guarantee market as cocoa farmers have in the country. Within 6 months, there will be massive economic transformation in the country if Ghanaian farmers are engaged in the school feeding program,” he urged.

“We should not buy tomatoes and onions from Burkina Faso. Rice and everything which will be needed for the free school feeding program should come from Ghana. We must look at the Ghanaian first and I wanted the President to have added to the free school feeding program that Ghanaian farmers will be engaged,” he stressed.

He however emphasized that the members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) support President Akufo-Addo fully, but stressed one or two things should be added to the program to make it comprehensive.
