SoNA 2017: I Condemn All Acts Of Misconduct By Party Members - Prez Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned any act of misconduct by supporters of the New Patriotic Party and the government that occured before, during and after the transition process.

Delivering his first State of the Nation Address at Parliament on Tuesday, President Akufo-Addo called on all political parties to join the crusade to ensure that their members do not perpetuate violence irrespective of their political affiliation.

"Wrongdoing has no political colour. And I do not subscribe to the lawlessness of political party supporters simply because their party has been elected into office."

The President noted that he was aware of the violent incidents that characterized the transition of the government and so ordered the immediate past Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, to crack the whip on all the culprits.

According to him, he asked the former IGP to "apply the law irrespective of affiliation to all lawbreakers. This instruction was also carried out to his successor David Asante Apeatu..."

President Nana Akufo-Addo advised all parties to bring their members to order, stating emphatically that "I condemn all such conducts and I call on all political parties, especially the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, to ensure that this is the last time such undignified acts occur during our periods of transition."
