Man-U Is The Focus, Not England - Michael Owen

Manchester United forward Michael Owen has explained that he's more focused on his club career than his prospects of reclaiming a place in the England squad. There has been much speculation concerning the international return of the former Liverpool hitman since his shock move from Newcastle United to the Red Devils. Three Lions boss Fabio Capello has since described the situation as something of a "torment" from his perspective, comparing it to the protracted saga of Italy coach Marcello Lippi and his refusal to call-up Antonio Cassano. Despite the spotlight on a potential place in the national team, Owen maintains that his focus is on bringing laurels to his club. "England is something I don't really think about," said the dimunitive striker, according to the Press Association. "It is probably something people talk about a lot more than I think about really. "The last squad I was in was over a year ago now. I have played for England 89 times and I would love to play for England again. "But I am concentrating on playing for Manchester United. I genuinely go to bed thinking that I have got to play well the next day and win games for Manchester United, not that if I score or play well I might get picked for England."
