Sack Security Heads Prez Akufo-Addo Told

Pressure Group, Critical Thinkers International (CTI), has asked President Akufo-Addo to sack all heads of security agencies over the scuffle that ensued between a camera man and security officer on Tuesday in Accra when the President was singing the national anthem prior to delivering his maiden State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament.

It would be recalled that a cameraman, believed to be working for the state broadcaster, Ghana Television (GTV) was heckled by a security man when he tried to capture President Akufo-Addo singing the national anthem.

This, according to media reports, led to a scuffle between the security officer and the said camera man, who was asked to leave the place.

CTI, in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Nana Kwadwo Akwaa, said “the struggle which occurred between the security and a cameraman during the parade before the presentation of the State of the Nation in Parliament by the President on 21st February was not only condemnable but also posed a serious threat to the security of the President of Ghana.”

CTI explained that “the actions of the security men did not only show how badly trained they are but also showed how they cared more about the avoidance of a perceived disgrace of the nation than the safety of the most important person of the land.”
