Bawumia Grabs Oxford Job

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana and running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in the last general elections, has landed a new appointment as a member of Oxford University�s St. Anthony�s College. He would be part of the College�s Department of Economics� Centre for the Study of African Economics, an internationally renowned research institution on African economics. By his acceptance of this appointment, he will be moving away from Canada�s University of British Columbia where had been a visiting professor, his next port of call after leaving Ghana not too long after the last elections. His contribution towards a wide range of innovations of Ghana Central Bank when he served under the then Governor, Paul Acquah have been lauded as some of the outstanding development in the history of the institution in the last decade. Dr. Bawumia is a product of Tamale Secondary School in the Northern Region and holds a First Class degree and a Buckingham University degree. He also holds qualifications of the Oxford University�s Lincoln College and Simon Fraser University. Dr. Bawumia holds the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) diploma and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), Ghana.
