Gwira Traditional Council Calls On Government To Appoint MCE From The Area

The leadership of the Gwira Traditional Council in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region has appealed to the government to consider appointing the new MCE from the traditional area.

The Traditional Council alleged that since the inception of the Fourth Republic, all appointments to the MCE position had come from either Evalue or Ajomoro to the neglect of Gwira which is made up of the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency.

Nana Polley Ankoanah V, Adontenhene of Tumantu community and spokesman for the Traditional Council at a press conference said, "from the time of independence to date, nobody from Gwira Traditional Area has been given any political appointment as DCE or MCE".

He said the practice had caused the area greatly with regards to infrastructure development such as roads, education, healthy, security, communication and water despite its contributions through cocoa production.

The Chief said the voting population of the area currently stood at 40,000 which far outweigh the other two traditional areas, adding, “considering the above, we suggest you choose our own- Salby Ogbamey who has contributed enormously to the NPP as the next MCE for the Nzema East Municipal Assembly ".

The Gwira leadership said it was only fair that government granted their request to ensure equity and a tranquil atmosphere.
