Dwendwenase Primary School Cries For Help

Parents whose children attend the Presbyterian Dwendwenase Primary School, a farming community in the Asante Akyem South District, have threatened to withdraw their children from the school to avoid disaster. The Assemblyman for Dwendwenase electoral area, Nana Kwame Baah, told the GNA that the block of six classrooms had become a death trap and some parents had started withdrawing their children from the school. Nana Baah said due to the bad condition of the classroom block some of the classes had been merged and that out of the six classrooms, three had collapsed with the rest on the verge of collapse. He said any time it rained, classes had to be abandon and the children sent home. Mr Francis Asare, a parent, told the GNA that the school, which was constructed 51 years ago by the community through communal labour, was renovated only twice by the community through the cocoa Kilo deductions.
