Court Grants Bail To Two NDC Executives Charged With Fraud

A Half Assini magistrate court presided over His Worship Abdul Majeed has granted bail to two National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Executives in the in the Jomoro District of the Western region.

The two including Constituency Chairman Gideon Koniba and Deputy secretary Augustine Ofori Andoh are facing charges of defrauding by false pretenses after they were alleged to have taken various sums of money from fishermen in the area under the guise of giving them outboard motors in return.

The suspects who were arrested and remanded last week but granted bail today when they made an appearance in the sum of GH¢ 500,000 and are expected to reappear before court on April 14, 2017.

At the time of going to the press, the two were yet to meet the bail conditions as no one showed up to stand surety.

Gideon Konibah and Augustine Ofori Andoh are alleged to have taken various sums from the fishermen under the guise of providing them with outboard motors late last year.

The two were arrested after an official complaint was lodged by the chief fishermen Emmanuel Odwiri and during a party meeting at Agona Nkwanta, in the Ahanta West District of the Central region they were picked up.

Both are howver opting for an out of court settlement promising to refund either refund monies of victims or give the outboard motors as promised.
