FDA Cautions Public Against Expired Lucozade Canned Drinks In The Market

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned the general public about expired canned drinks in the market.

It disclosed that throng of residents at Yamoransa and its environs at Cape Coast in the Central Region have been scavenging refuse for Lucozade canned drinks for sale.

A Cargo trailer is said to have dumped the canned drinks at the refuse site on Sunday, only for some people to go there and park them into buckets either for personal consumption or for the market.

According to the Regional Director of the FDA, Mr Albert Ankomah, preliminary investigations by the Authority indicate that the drinks have decayed and poses a threat to the health of unsuspecting consumers.

An eyewitness told Peace FM's correspondent Sally Ngissah that he "saw school children holding many cans of the drinks. I asked whether there was a party and they told me they picked them from the refuse dump."

Mr. Ankomah forwarned the scavengers to return them to the Chief's palace at Yamonransa or to the FDA office in Cape Coast.
