Kwesi Nyantakyi Congratulates New CAF President

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association has congratulated Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, the newly elected President of The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).

Speaking to the press on Friday, Mr. Nyantakyi said there was an unstoppable wind of change blowing and that it was a perfect time for Mr. Issa Hayatou and friends to step down for new leaders to take over.

"Yesterday's elections can be described as a landmark election, because it swept away many people, many long standing officials of their seats, but that is the nature of life.”

"All of us serving society or associations in various capacities would one time or the other move on for other people to take over.

"It is time for Mr. Hayatou and his friends to move on, a new breed of leaders have been elected. Ahmad Ahmad is now the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and on behalf of the Ghana Football Association I congratulate him and all the new comers, who were elected onto the executive committee of the CAF as well as the executive council of FIFA.

"Ghanaians are committed to offering support to the new leadership of CAF so that they can continue developing the game on our continent

"I believe Ahmad had a message, and in his brief interaction he had with the delegates before the election, he said he was going to focus on youth development, women empowerment and development.

"He said he was going to ensure that monies earned by CAF from marketing activities are invested back into the game and proposed $100,000 a year per federation, which will go into the development of the game

"Most importantly, people were yearning for change and nobody can stop change. Nobody born by a woman can stop change and that was the main cause for Mr. Hayatou’s defeat.
