Primary Three Pupil Escapes Death

A nine-year-old primary three pupil of Golden Age school narrowly escaped death when a Yahama motor-bike with registration number MIZ AS1221 hit her on her way to school.

The victim, Sarah Agdekey sustained minor injuries on her forehead and was sent to the Tarkwa government hospital where she was treated and discharged.

The Divisional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) Commander for Tarkwa, Superintendent of Police, Madam Victoria Yamoah, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, said on March 20, at about 0730 hours, the victim, who was walking to school stopped around the Metro Mass Transit terminal in Tarkwa to cross the road to the other side.

Superintendent Yamoah said a taxi driver who was then approaching stopped to give way to the victim, but as soon as she attempted to cross the road, Michael Kubil Daah, who was riding a motor bike towards Cyanide town run into her.
She said the suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigation.

The MTTD commander appealed to pedestrians to use the zebra crossing for their safety instead crossing the road from any angle.

On the part of drivers and riders in the municipality, she advised them to comply with the road traffic regulations.
