Sakumono Tennis Club Wins At Home

Sakumono Tennis Club, last Saturday put up a plucky performance to defeat 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club Tema 7-6 in their friendly competition played at the Sakumono Tennis Club Court.

In all, 13 games were played on the day during the championship which attracted a large section of the public. Sakumono Tennis Club won the singles 3-2 and in the doubles event, both clubs won four games apiece.

Sakumono Tennis Club recorded first victory in the Men’s singles when Managing Director of Engen Ghana Henry Akwaboah upset GTF vice President Samuel Ampedu Kyei who is also the former Officers Mess 7-4 and Samuel Ablorh also won 7-4 against Baba Zakari.

In the ladies singles, Tina Yamak added another victory for the home team as she walloped Bridgette Sutinga of 4 Garrison 6-2.

The away team responded quickly as Jeff Bagerbaseh ousted Pascal Ziyab 7-2 and Francis Akpese also beating Francis Gbolonyo 7-4.

In the Men’s doubles, the home team started on a bright note as Bonsu/ Bortey won 7-4 against the Adu Brothers (Samuel Adu Junior and Samuel Adu Senior).

In other doubles games were Ewool and Yates of Sakumono Tennis Club showed class by winning 7-5 against Captain Anati and Kwaku. Tsyi and Donkor did not also disappoint the home fans and beat NiiKwei/Asiedu 7-6.

The jubilation was short lived as away team’s technical instructions from their President S.S. Abebe which did magic for club as Gyakye/ Kwadwo won 7-4 against Ablorh/ Babson.
