Relocate Ahead Of Rains - NADMO Cautions Public

Mr Kwasi Attor, Acting Volta Regional Director, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has advised people living in low lying areas and on waterways to relocate ahead of the rainy season.

He also urged people living in buildings with cracks and weak roofing structures to renovate them to prevent flood related disasters.

Mr Attor, who said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency weekend, said it was unfortunate that despite regular education on safety measures, people remained adamant hence the flood related tragedies recorded in Ho after the recent torrential rainfall.

Some houses built along big gutters in Ho were said to have been flooded at the weekend, with occupants sustaining minor injuries.

Mr Attor said Ho Municipal, Central and North Tongu, Akatsi South, Kpando and Hohoe were some of the flood prone areas in the Region and urged traditional authorities to help prevent flood disasters.

He said the currently the Organization has limited relief items hence the need for all to heed to the warning from NADMO.
