Start Prosecuting Pedestrians Who Cross Road Anyhow - Judge

A judge has suggested to the Ghana Police Service to start prosecuting pedestrians who crossed roads indiscriminately.

Mrs Victoria A. Ghansah, a Magistrate at the Abeka District Court, said the Police had often times left pedestrians who did not pay heed to regulations and only held drivers responsible for road accidents.

“The Police should start prosecuting pedestrians from crossing roads anywhere and anyhow. If that were done, they would begin to learn,” she said.

Mrs Ghansah said this when some drivers were put before the court on various traffic offences, including careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm to victims of accidents.

She noted that some pedestrians crossed the road indiscriminately putting drivers in trouble.

The Judge tasked the Police to intensify education on road regulations to curb road accidents.
