Mr Emmanuel Appiah, Dean of the School of Applied Arts of the Takoradi Polytechnic, on Monday said the tertiary school would soon add leatherwork and beauty culture department's to its academic portfolio. It is also very likely that metalwork, jewellery glass technology and plastic art and technology would be added to the curriculum of the polytechnic. Mr. Appiah was speaking at the launch of the second open day celebrations of the school in Takoradi. He said the vision of the school was to produce excellent manpower for the industrial and economic development of the country. Mr. Appiah said it is part of the vision of the school to contribute towards the development and protection of the local craft and art industry in order to generate more jobs and alleviate poverty. Mr. James Addai-Marfo, the Registrar, who launched the day on behalf of the Rector, called on the School of Applied Arts to re-package its courses to reflect current trends and to start the implementation of its graphic design course.
