Minister For Special Development Initiatives Reveals Govt Plans For The Three Northern Regions

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives who doubles as a Member of Parliament for the people of Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has reiterated government�s commitment to the transformation agenda as promised Ghanaians.

�Government will soon roll out number of flagship programs and interventions across the country. This includes the popular �one district one factory, one village one dam, amongst others�, she averred.

Speaking to the people of Tamale and the staff of Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), the Minister asserted that considerable number of dams will be constructed by the end of this year to boost agric production as well as create thousands of jobs for the youth in the three northern regions.

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives is on the familiarization tour of the three Northern regions to oversee the activities of SADA and to see how best SADA can be strategically repositioned to champion the development agenda of the Northern part of the country.

Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, and a number of traditional rulers, including the Buipe-Wura, Abdulai Jinapor.

�SADA will soon be restructured and subsumed by Northern Development Authority (NDA) to focus on the three Northern Regions of Ghana. Additional two development authorities, Middle Belt and Coastal Development Authorities will be established to be the development agencies of the Middle Belt and Coastal areas of the country, respectively�, she revealed.

She stressed that �these authorities, when created, hopefully June this year, will be the primary executing agencies under the flagship Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Program (IPEP), through the one million dollar per constituency arrangement�.
